Baptism by fire - my teaching career got jump-started about a month before my official training did when I was called up Niles North High School's award-winning choral department (just outside Chicago, USA) to coach their beginner-level Jazz Vocal Ensemble "Sound Check" in the fall of 1997. I completed my Master's in Jazz Pedagogy from Northwestern University the following Spring and then went on to pioneer the Jazz Vocal Program at the American school of Modern Music in Paris (former Berklee affiliate) from 2002-2010, developing a complete ear training curriculum from scratch, and authoring a series of auxiliary workshops and courses for the Jazz Vocal Academy International - all of which allow students to develop into fully rounded musicians, as well as healthy and happy singers. I also welcome a regular clientele into my home studio for private voice coaching where the focus is on healthy, meaningful vocal production for any style, through body awareness and emotional connection, as well as exploration of improvisation and other techniques for stage and musicianship.
More recently I have also been called upon to teach other auxiliary subjects - from English as a second language (ESL), to pronunciation, to composition and arranging - and am experiencing repeated success in helping students in those areas as well. This has led to a new partnership with the American Embassy's African Regional Services (ARS) and 8 missions as Cultural Ambassador to Africa!

BeginningsComing from a family of educators and musicians, I had my first music lessons sitting next to my grandma on her piano bench at age 6, leading eventually to my jazz début with my grandfather's big band at 16. These were the first in a long series of wonderful teachers throughout my childhood and adolescence who served as my mentors, and each of whom has contributed to my development as both an artist and educator through their teachings, and above all by their examples.
